Description
RTS unique “Twin Friction” (drive plate) has been developed using a unique flywheel side friction material whilst adopting a segmented pressure plate face.. The aramid friction exhibits 50% less wear than a conventional drive plate friction material.
This material also reduces the effects of fade. Fade is the decline in the clutch system’s ability to transmit torque as operating temperatures increases. These features in combination with the previously mentioned micro-structure of spheroidal casting and ER2 technology allows the clutch kit to dissipate heat far more effectively, allowing the clutch to run cooler for longer.
RTSÂ kit has been designed with a higher clamp load enabling the clutch system to transmit 60% more torque over the standard clutch kit and is suitable for every day driving, fast road and track/circuit racing whilst maintaining user-friendly driving experience.
RTS – RTSTF-0018 has been designed and manufactured to significantly exceed the original clutch system whilst also maintaining OE pedal effort, thus delivering a torque capacity of 395 lbs/ft of torque.
We recommend fitting a new slave cylinder when changing the clutch.Â
Suitable for the following 1.8PS EA888 Gen 3 '1.8 TSI' 6 Speed Manual Cars
- Audi A3 (8V)
- SEAT Leon FR (Mk3)
- Skoda Octavia (Mk3)Â
This clutch kit comes complete with a new Release Bearing.
Please be aware, Solid Flywheels will cause an increase in 'Chatter' or noise upon Idle.Â
IMPORTANT BEDDING IN PROCEDURE INFORMATION
Bedding in Procedure
To ensure perfect functioning and to achieve the maximum longevity of your RTS Europe Ltd
Performance Clutch, RTS Europe Ltd recommends that the clutch is allowed to “bed in” correctly
immediately after installation. This will ensure the friction surfaces of the components are correctly
aligned and mated for future use. Our recommendation is to perform positive and accurate gear
changes in the low to mid rev range for the first 750 - 1000 miles of driving with the new clutch
installed. This should be carried out during city type driving, or as normal driving as possible depending
on the circumstances. Certainly, racing starts and quick shifting should be avoided during the “bedding
in” stage.
Understandably, this will not be possible in certain situations, especially when racing or rallying for
example. However, whenever it is possible or practical, “bedding in” the clutch correctly will pay future
dividends in operational efficiency and product longevity. Furthermore, the modern materials used in the
manufacture of our product range mean it is absolutely never necessary or advised to slip the clutch in
order to “bed it in”. Induced clutch slip will result in premature degradation of the friction material,
ultimately leading to greatly reduced product lifespan.
** RTS Europe Ltd manufactures Warranty does not cover driver Miss-use of the clutch, damage from
downshifting, contamination at install, launching damage or miss-alignment.
Do not launch the vehicle, aggressively down shift or exert too much torque until
you have exceeded RTS Europe’s suggested bedding in mileage.
