The MPS twins run high boost through direct injection, and the DISI is famously hard on ignition - misfires under boost are the classic first symptom of tired coils, especially on mapped cars. Most MPS survivors are still on original units.
The Mantis MTP-1032 is a direct replacement engineered around a neodymium core delivering 12% more spark energy than standard OE coils. The same coil covers the whole NA MZR family - MX-5 NC included - and Ford's Duratec HE era.
